I may add a corollary: "Charles, stop talking immediately, period".

Compare with my unofficial rules of teaching kindergarten:

1. Never loose site of the fact that you are trying to imprint culture, an artificial construct, onto a genetically diverse group of infant mamals of a spesies which resently sprouted ON (not off) the evolutionary primate branch. This should contextualize your initial failures & allow you to keep going.

2. Punishment should never fit the crime. Although young, their ability to do risk assesment is already finely tuned. Despite the outward appearance of psychotic behaviour on your part, this technique is vital to the first objective. Teaching the true meaning of the word "No." without which no further teaching can be done.

3. Love is an important part in teaching children. If you don't give it, you have nothing to take away. Especially if they are already fed.

4. Watch the hands. Always watch the hands. Tofu stains are impossibly hard to launder out of clothes & with small kids they always appear as suspicious stains around the crouch area.

The list is actually much longer...
