Did you ask your students to look into finding a broad local minimum (ie robust) instead of a potentially narrow lower one? Sachertorte is overrated anyway. I can personally vouch for the things that happen in the Bermuda triangle. People really do vanish there, usually in a puff of alcohol. Klimt's at Schonbrun, the Hunderdwasser haus, sachar torte at Demel (mit schlag bitte), Budvar vom vas with a stelzer. Just fabulous. Ok, I admit I am rather jealous.....
